The role of ICLHE and the challenges of  ESP: Equitable and sustainable internationalisation

We are pleased to announce that the 5th ICLHE Regional Group Symposium will be held onsite on 13-14 June 2024 at Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya, Barcelona (Spain). It is organised by the Secció de Tècniques de Comunicació en Anglès, at the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya, Barcelona Tech.

What to expect?
We invite contributions that cover any aspects of ICLHE or EMI/EME and ESP within the context of equitable and sustainable internationalisation in higher education. This symposium aims to explore the diverse factors influencing the teaching and learning processes at higher education institutions, with a specific foucs on ICLHE courses and how ESP can play a pivotal role. We are interested in proposals addressing the challenges and successes encountered in this domain, encompassing institutional strategies, language policies, faculty and student training initiatives, and methodological approaches.

Call for Papers
We invite proposals for short, individual or joint, 10-minute presentations (followed by a 5-minute discussion). We look forward to knowing about the research and experiences carried out in different ICLHE settings in Spain. The conference languages are English and Spanish. Abstracts of a maximum of 300 words (excluding references) must be submitted by 23 Februrary 2024 by completing the Abstract Submission form you will find in our website.

PhD Corner
There is a special Call for Papers fro PhD students working in the area of ICLHE and ESP. As part of our endeavor to support student participation, one of the participating PhD students will be granted a PhD award at the Symposium. PhD presentations should deal with a (or part of a) PhD project that fits the scope of ICLHE/EME and ESP in Spanish higher education and should include some research results. The PhD Speaker Selection Committee will choose the award winner by the end of March 2023 and will inform all applicants. PhD abstracts will be submitted through the aforementioned abstract submission form by the abstract submission due date (participation in the PhD award will be indicated in the form). 

Who should attend?
The symposium will bring together researchers and practitioners of ICLHE (Integrating Content and Language in Higher Education), and English-Medium Education (EME) from all over Spain who would like to share their experiences and engage in lively and fruitful discussions. It combines two keynote lectures with presentations by teachers, teacher educators, doctoral students and researchers.

Els assistents podran adquirir el llibre i vins del celler. Aquest darrer només admet el pagament en efectiu o bizum.

Inscripció a la presentació del llibre "Medicina en femení" per part de la seva autora Glòria Sabaté al celler Fargas-Fargas de Salelles.

L'acte que tindrà lloc el dijous 29 de juny a les 18.00 h constarà d'una visita guiada a la vinya i a continuació de la visita tindrà lloc la presentació del llibre.

L'acte tindrà un cost de 10€ per persona que inclou el tast de 2 vins del celler amb DO Pla de Bages acompanyat d'un aperitiu.

Els assistents podran adquirir el llibre i vins del celler. Aquest darrer només admet el pagament en efectiu o bizum.

A continuació de la visita guiada tindrà lloc la presentació del llibre "Aliment" per part del seu autor Martí Sales. L'acte tindrà lloc a l'era de Mas Verdaguer a les 19.00 h.

L'acte tindrà un cost de 5€ per persona que inclou el tast de 2 vins del celler Les Acàcies amb DO Pla de Bages. Els assistents també podran adquirir un caixa amb els 2 vins que es tastaran.

The AELFE-TAPP 2021 Conference brings together the 19th annual conference of AELFE (Asociación Europea de Lenguas para Fines Específicos/European Association of Languages for Specific Purposes) and the 2nd Conference of the Trans-Atlantic and Pacific Project (TAPP), a growing virtual exchange network that has developed transnational collaborative projects on specialised communication, translation and user experience. The combination of both conferences will allow participants to link the fields of languages for specific purposes (LSP) and telecollaboration/virtual exchange.
